Our Community United

The community of Tithebarn turned out in huge numbers to celebrate the season at our first Christmas get-together. Despite the rains rolling in just before the start time of 6pm, our spirits couldn’t be dampened as we gathered together to make new friends over a hot chocolate and sing along with festive carols.

The town square was packed as 127 local residents picked up their free hot drink from Strawberry Fields cafe, funded by the generous donation from Broadclyst Parish Council, exchanging the voucher featured in the Winter edition of the Broadsheet (and delivered by us, the Tithebarn Residents Association volunteers!)

Thanks to the organisations that supported our social gathering. Click each icon for more details.

The Broadsheet also contained our puzzle card for the annual Advent Trail around Tithebarn where each window contained a letter towards an anagram that spelt out ‘FIVE SLEEPS TO GO UNTIL?”. Our stall was inundated with children shouting ‘CHRISTMAS’ at us and collecting their sweet treat – either fruit, Haribos or a chocolate box. Thanks go to Teign Housing who funded our advent trail prizes, and Tesco who subsided our purchases.

With drinks in hand we sang along with the choir and listened to a sketch from Pinhope – the local church collective – before a impassioned address from Marc, the secretary of TRA – asking if our community has what it takes to host its own Tithebarn Fun Day next summer? From the turnout and the feedback it seems that answer is very much YES we do.
