Norrish Lane Allotment work underway
Work has begun on preparing the Norrish Lane Allotment. Rotivation has been done to the ground and fresh top soil has been added.

P25/005 PLANNING – APPLICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION
Trees Overshadowing Allotments: Concerns remain about the existing trees in the proposed allotment area. Their crowns and root zones are likely to overshadow plots and cause long-term maintenance problems. This layout must be reviewed
Root Protection Zones: Proper consideration of root protection zones is needed to avoid conflicts between tree roots and the allotment space, which could make some plots unviable.

Tithebarn allotments:
Similarly, following on from point 5, Cavanna has asked if the Parish Council will take the Allotments in the Equinox III site at Tithebarn. From an officers perspective, we would repeat the process that has worked well in Broadclyst and at Hillside Gardens (Westclyst) where we initially let the plots then support the first plot-holders to set up their own Allotment Association and self-manage, with the parish council remaining the superior landlord. Recommendation: Allotment provision is one of the very few statutory duties of a parish council. It is therefore recommended that the Council resolves to accept the transfer of these and additional allotments across the new developments.

Update from BPC
In regards to Tithebarn allotments, the allocated sites for the development are as follows:
- Norrish Lane = Allotments
- Phase 2 = Allotments
- Phase 5 = Allotments
- North of Jennings Gardens = Allotment & Community Orchard
The number of actual “plots” per allotment site are still to be decided, so we are unable to advise on the exact number that will become available for allocation for our Parishioners.
Regarding timescales, Norrish Lane will be delivered first, with the others to follow once development is nearing completion. For example, Phase 2 allotments will be delivered by the developer upon completion of the Phase 2 development (there or there abouts).
