SUMMARY:BioBlitz & Fun Day 2024
DESCRIPTION:What is a Bioblitz you ask?\nIt’s an event to explore what living things there are in an area on a specific day. In this case our Country Park. \nThe Rangers will set up the bat detectors\, camera traps\, footprint traps and a moth trap before the event and on the day we will be running around with phones to take photos of what we find and use Google/books/apps to identify what we have found.\nThe Park is very young but as you all know we’ve had a few visits from a beaver\, have lots of birds and I’ve seen animal tracks. I can’t identify so it’s a really exciting moment to get baseline data for the Park. In a few years we can do the same again and see if we find anything different.\nAlready it’s a great reservoir of wildlife\, it amazes me how many more insects and birds there are in the park compared to the gardens only five minutes walk away.\nIt’s a great way to get everyone especially our local children enthusing about nature.\nFiona drew our winning poster\, its great to see how many creatures she thinks we may find.   Will we find the capybara?
